"Life on Mars"  (2008)TV Series.....Rose Tyler

Airs Thursdays at 10/9C on ABC Television

Where were you in 1973? NYPD Detective Sam Tyler (Jason O'Mara) finds himself in the cultural hotbed of New York City in the tumultuous times of the Vietnam War, Watergate, women's lib and the civil and gay rights movements - without a cell phone, computer, PDA or MP3 player -- suddenly hurtled back in time when he's ripped from 2008 after being hit by a car while chasing down a criminal. He's trying mightily to understand what has just happened to him and how he can get back "home."

"Life on Mars" stars Jason O'Mara ("In Justice," "Grey's Anatomy," "Men in Trees") as Sam Tyler, Harvey Keitel ("Bugsy," "Reservoir Dogs," "The Piano," "Pulp Fiction," "Mean Streets") as Lieutenant Gene Hunt, Michael Imperioli ("The Sopranos," "Oprah Winfrey Presents: Mitch Albom's For One More Day") as Detective Ray Carling, Gretchen Mol ("3:10 to Yuma," "The Notorious Bettie Page") as Annie Norris and Jonathan Murphy ("October Road") as Detective Chris Skelton. Lisa Bonet ("High Fidelity," "Enemy of the State," "The Bill Cosby Show") will appear as a recurring guest star as Maya Daniels.

Jennifer plays the mother of a young Sam in the 1970's.  Her first appearance was October 30, 2008 in Episode 104 - "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing In The Shadows?" - Sam is unwillingly but hypnotically pulled back into his childhood when he becomes entangled in local gangster Nick Profaci's assault on a young, beautiful woman. Sam is amazed to discover that the woman, who is oddly familiar to him, is actually his mother back in 1973. While he anxiously attempts to save her, he uncovers two unsolved murders of women that possibly point to the involvement of Profaci and his mob boss, Elliot Casso's. But even more alarming is the discovery that members of the 1-2-5 - including Lt. Hunt - may be mixed up with Casso and his crew and may have prevented justice from being carried out.

Watch the weekly preview clip and find downloadable media clips HERE.  Find photo stills of the first show in the Gallery.

Jennifer's 2nd appearance was speaking only in episode 106 - "Tuesday's Dead" - Sam Tyler finds it difficult to separate a life-and-death hostage situation taking place at County Hospital from his own strange circumstances. Stressed about a phone call where he seems to hear his mother's voice -- in 2008 -- begging him to wake up, he and the rest of the squad are ordered to diffuse a potentially explosive face-off in which a crazed gunman is trying to force a doctor to reverse a dangerous operation on the renegade's brother. Sam, Ray, Annie and Lt. Hunt are all targeted in the madman's cross hairs, but as Sam and the 1-2-5 attempt to resolve the confrontation, he suddenly realizes that the clock ticking on the gunman's demands parallels another deadline that could spell the end of Sam Tyler.

Jennifer's last appearance was in Episode 107 - "The Man Who Sold the World" -- When the baby of a prominent family is kidnapped for ransom, Sam Tyler is shocked to discover that his own father, Vic Tyler, may be involved. Sam was only four when his father abruptly skipped town under mysterious circumstances back in 1973. Was he sent back in time to stop his father from leaving his family? Vic agrees to cooperate with the squad in order to retrieve the missing baby, but the deeper Sam gets into his father's world, the closer he gets to uncovering some dark, sordid truths, compelling him to face long suppressed childhood memories. His discovery culminates in a shattering face-off, after which Sam will never be the same.

The series will be releases as a box set on DVD on September 29, 2009.  It can be pre-ordered now at Amazon.
